Russia sold Alaska to the United States because the economic costs of caring for Alaska was too high and wasn’t worth paying for when money was already hard to earn. They sold it to America because at the time they were allies, and both disliked the British.

-Economic competition
-A rise in nationalism
-Superiority amongst diff races (racism)
