If that is a US short ton (2000 lb), then the weight on each tire is 1250 pounds. If the tires are inflated to 50 pounds per square inch, then the area of rubber on the road at each tire is 1250 lb/(50 lb/in^2) = 25 in^2. That's the size of a 5-inch square.
