Simplify the following surd expressions

a) 6√2 -5√2

b) √11 + 3√11​

a) 6√2 -5√2-_________________ √2 (6-5=1)

b) √11 + 3√11​ = 1√11 + 3√11​ _______ 4√11​ (1+3=4)

Explanation:

a ) have the same surd factor, so just find the difference of rational co-efficient of like surds.

b) have the same surd factor ,so just find the sum of rational co-efficient of like surds.

tip: if the surds are the same you can add and subtract the other number as normal!!
