first, let’s define the word quotient: this means the result obtained when we divide one number by another.
so the first problem: the quotient of 8/1 is going to be 8 because any number divided by one is itself.
the second problem: 2/3. 3 cannot go into two evenly, so we must put a decimal place and add a 0. 3 can go into 20 6 times with a remainder of 2. however, if we keep adding 0s, we will always get six. so the answer is 0.66666 repeating. this can be rounded to 0.667.
hope this helps!
