What is an exercise regression?

It is the opposite of progression; that is, modification of an exercise with the intent of reducing demand. This can be accomplished by decreasing reps, load, tempo, range of motion, complexity, and/or challenge to an individual's stability.

An exercise regression is simply an approach to decrease the demand of an exercise or movement. Conversely, a progression does the opposite by increasing the demand incrementally through minor changes.
