In terms of physical pain, human bodies have a special group of sensory neurons called pain receptors. These pain receptors are all over the human skin, it reacts to a stimulus ( stimulus = anything that triggers a reaction ) by transmitting impulses to the spinal cord and brain to initiate pain perception, experiencing the pain.

Answer:

Pain sends a signal that the body needs protection and healing. However, if the physiological changes triggered by pain persist, harm will ensue, and acute pain may become chronic, so pain must be contained and/or relieved.

Explanation: Basically tells your body you need protection.
