a jar contains 4 white chips, 5 purple chips, and 1 black chip. chips are selected randomly one at a time, and are not replaced. find the probability of getting the purple chip given the black chip?

Add all the chips together to find the total amount

4 + 5 + 1 = 10

Since there are 5 purple chips in a jar full of 10 chips, the probability is 5/10. If you need to simplify then the answer would be 1/2.
