Explanation:

LET WIDTH= X

LENGTH= X+5

PERIMETER= 2(L+B)= 170

2(X+X+5)= 170

2X+5= 85

2X= 80

X= 40

WIDTH= 40

LENGTH= 45

The length of a rectangle is five more than the width. The perimeter is 170. What is the length and width? Write the equation and solve.
