How can too much fertilizer affect an ecosystem ? What are tel ways in which plants could acquire nitrogen

Too much fertilizer can kill plants. Which then the fertilizer can runoff into streams or rivers, causing animals to be killed that live in the water. Nitrogen can be obtained from ammonia.
