y = -x-2

Substitute the second equation into the first equation

Add 2x to each side

-x-2 +2x = -2x-6+2x

x-2 = -6

Add 2 to each side

x-2+2 = -6+2

x = -4

Now find y

y = -x-2

Substitute the value of x

y = -(-4)-2

y = 4-2

y =2

The solution is x=-4, y= 2
