We must solve the following equation:

-6=(x)/(4)-1

1) We sum to both sides +1, then we simplify:

\begin{gathered} -6+1=(x)/(4)-1+1 \\ -5=(x)/(4) \end{gathered}

2) We multiply both sides by 4, then we simplify:

\begin{gathered} 4\cdot(-5)=4\cdot(x)/(4) \\ -20=x \end{gathered}

Answer

x=-20
