Mean = total number of children/number of households

From the information given,

number of households

Total number of children = 9 x 4 + 15 x 2 + 13 x 3 = 36 + 30 + 39 = 105

Mean = 105/37 = 2.8

The mean number of children per household for these families = 2.8
