If 600 people were polled and 240 said the the approved of the mayor's action, what percent approved of her actions?

In order to calculate the percentage of people that approved the mayor's actions, we just need to divide the number of people that approved the actions by the total number of people polled. So we have:


(240)/(600)=(40)/(100)=40\text{\%}

So the percentage is 40%.
