Normally, n means a natural number, that means that n can be 1, 2, 3, 4...

So if they ask for the first 4 terms they would be:

f(1) = 3(1) -1 = 2

f(2) = 3(2) -1 = 5

f(3) = 3(3) -1 = 8

f(4) = 3(4) -1 = 11
