3x - 5 < -14

To solve for x

Add 5 to both-side of the inequality

3x < -14+5

3x < -9

Divide both-side by 3

x < -3

or

2x - 1 > 7

Add 1 to both-side of the inequality

2x > 7 + 1

2x > 8

Divide both-side by 2

x > 4
