Lateral area of a square pyramid: This area is equal to 4 times the area of one of the triangles (as each triangle that comform the laterals of a pyramid with a square base are equa)

\begin{gathered} LA=4((1)/(2)b_(\Delta)\cdot h_(\Delta)) \\ \\ LA=2b_(\Delta)h_(\Delta) \end{gathered}

For the given pyramid:

base of the lateral triangles: 14 cm

heigh of the lateal triangles: 14/2 cm = 7cm

\begin{gathered} LA=2(14\operatorname{cm})(7\operatorname{cm}) \\ LA=196cm^2 \end{gathered}Then, the lateral area is 196 square centimeters
