The formula for determine the slope is given by

m = ( y2-y1)/(x2-x1) where ( x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are points on the line

m = ( 4 - -1)/(4 - -4)

Rewriting

m = ( 4+1)/( 4+4)

= 5/8

The slope is 5/8
