SOLUTION

We want to solve the question below

The figure consists of a semi-circle and a triangle. So the area of the figure becomes

Area of semi-circle + area of triangle

The semi-circle has a diameter of 8 in. So the radius becomes

r=(diameter)/(2)=(8)/(2)=4in

Area of the semi-circle is given as

\begin{gathered} (1)/(2)*\pi r^2 \\ (1)/(2)*3.14*4^2 \\ (1)/(2)*3.14*16 \\ =25.12\text{ in}^2 \end{gathered}

Area of the triangle is

\begin{gathered} (1)/(2)* base* height \\ (1)/(2)*9*8 \\ 9*4 \\ =36\text{ in}^2 \end{gathered}

So Area of the figure becomes

\begin{gathered} 25.12+36 \\ =61.12\text{ in}^2 \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is option C

Find the area of the figure. Use 3.14 for .18 in9 inO A. 97.2 in2O B. 122.24 in2O-example-1
