For this case we can do the following:


\tan M=(\sin M)/(\cos M)=\frac{\text{opposite}}{\text{adjacent}}

For this case the opposite side is 8 and the adjacent is 6 so we got:


\tan M=(8)/(6)=(4)/(3)
