Given two sets of real numbers:


\begin{gathered} D=\mleft\lbrace w\mright|w\ge4\} \\ E=\mleft\lbrace w\mright|w<8\} \end{gathered}

we will write the given sets as intervals

so,


\begin{gathered} D=\lbrack4,\infty) \\ E=(-\infty,8) \end{gathered}

The intersections and the union of the sets will be as follows:


\begin{gathered} D\cap E=\lbrack4,8) \\ \\ D\cup E=(-\infty,\infty) \end{gathered}
