We need to divide the number of foot of scarf knitted by the number of time, in hours, taken.

\frac{(3)/(8)\text{ ft }}{(1)/(3)\text{ hour}}=(3)/(8)\cdot3\frac{\text{ ft}}{\text{ hour}}=(9)/(8)\frac{\text{ ft}}{\text{ hour}}=(8+1)/(8)\frac{\text{ ft}}{\text{ hour}}=1(1)/(8)\frac{\text{ ft}}{\text{ hour}}
