If shrubs are planted every 2 ft along the outer border of the garden, how many shrubs are needed?

We need to find out the outer border of the garden (circumference)

The outer border of the garden is given by

C=(\theta)/(360\degree)*2\pi r

Where θ is the central angle and r is the radius.

θ = 40°

r = 60 ft

\begin{gathered} C=(40\degree)/(360\degree)*2\pi(60) \\ C=(1)/(9)*120\pi \\ C=41.89\: ft \end{gathered}

Now, we need to divide this length of the outer border by 2 ft to get the number of shrubs

no.\: of\: shrubs=(41.89)/(2)=20.95=21

Since the number of shrubs cannot be in decimal so we rounded up the answer.

Therefore, we need 21 shrubs
