a map has a scale of 1.2 in : 9.2 mi. If Clayton and Greenwood are 26.1 mi apart, then they are how far apart on the map?

we know that

the scale is 1.2 in : 9.2 mi.

that means

1.2 in in the map represent 9.2 mi in the actual

so

applying proportion

we have

1.2/9.2=x/26.1

solve for x

x=(1.2/9.2)*26.1

x=3.4 in

therefore

the answer is 3.4 inches
