Find the LCM of 16 and 24

The first step to find the LCM is to break the two numbers into factors. This is done below:

\begin{gathered} 24=2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot3 \\ 16=2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot2 \end{gathered}

We then multiply each factor. If the factor appears on both numbers at the same time we only multiply it once.

\begin{gathered} \text{LCM}=2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot3 \\ \text{LCM}=48 \end{gathered}

The LCM between these two numbers is 48.
