We can use tangent function in order to find the value of x:

\tan (x)=(opposite)/(adjacent)
\tan (x)=(40)/(34)

take the inverse tangent of both sides:

\begin{gathered} x=\tan ^(-1)((40)/(34)) \\ x=49.6^{\circ^{}} \end{gathered}
