Foreshortening is an art technique depicting works in a way that provides different perceptions of the work visually.

An example of foreshortening would be if one were to draw a picture of a figure sitting down with their legs straight. In this picture, different perceptions could be noticed such as the feet being bigger than the head’s size (when looking from the bottom), or the appearance of less physical features from a bird’s eye view.
