The equation lyl = -7, does not have solution because the absolute value of any number is always a positive number. Then, you have;

lyl = -7 => b) No solution

The equation lyl = 7, has the solution y=-7 and y=7, with any of this number for y, you obtain 7.

lyl = 7 => a) -7,7
