ANSWER and EXPLANATION

We want to understand why:

(6)/(2)\text{ = 3}

Look at it this way:

We want to know how many 2s we can get in 6.

or

We want to know how many times we can find 2 in 6.

Now, we have the number 6.

Take away 2:

6 - 2 = 4

Take away another 2:

4 - 2 = 2

You are left with only 2.

So, you see that there are three 2s in 6.

This is the same with any other division.

Some of them have remainders and some don't.
