The general equation for the inverse variation is,


\begin{gathered} y\propto(1)/(x) \\ y=(k)/(x) \end{gathered}

Substitute the value of x and y in the equation to obtain the value of k.


\begin{gathered} 2=(k)/(8) \\ k=8\cdot2 \\ =16 \end{gathered}

Thus, relation between x and y is,


y=(16)/(x)
