Mathematically, in an isosceles triangle, the base angles are equal. By extension, it means that the length of the sides facing these base angles will be equal in length

With respect to the given triangle, we have it that;


AB\text{ = BC}

So,we proceed to equate the side lengths given so as to get the value of x


\begin{gathered} 3x-4\text{ = 5x-10} \\ 10-4\text{ = 5x-3x} \\ 2x\text{ = 6} \\ x\text{ = }(6)/(2) \\ x\text{ = 3} \end{gathered}

Now, to get the length of AB, we will substitute the value of x into the equation for the length of AB as follows;
