To simplify an algebraic fraction, we will simplify the numbers and the variables

(12wxy)/(20xy)

Since the simplest form of 12/20 is

(12)/(20)=((12)/(4))/((20)/(4))=(3)/(5)

Since x/x = 1 and y/y = 1, then

The simplest form of the fraction is

(12wxy)/(20xy)=(3w)/(5)

You can write it as

(3)/(5)w
