Next, extract a plasmid from a bacteria. Insert the gene in the DNA strand of the plasmid and reinsert the plasmid in the bacteria.

After the final step, the recombinant bacteria will express the gene of interest.

The only step that does not correspond to the process is the addition of the DNA ligase.
