What's the mean number of kernels per row in the sample of ears?

We know that the mean of a samples if given by:


\mu=(x_1+x_2+\cdots+x_n)/(n)

So we replace our data so:


\mu=(49+52+48+52+54+51+53+\ldots+48+52)/(20)

and we solve so:


\mu=(1023)/(20)=51.15
