change 0.025 into a fraction

in order to change a number to a fraction we start by counting the number of decimal places the number has and we put a 1 followed by zeros in the amount of decimal palces there is.

in this case 0.025 has 3 decimal places, so in the denominator there is going to be a 1000. At the numerator we leave the number as if there were no 0's before

0.025=(25)/(1000)

However this expresion can be simplified by dividing both numerator and denominator by 25

\begin{gathered} (25)/(25)=1 \\ (1000)/(25)=40 \end{gathered}

The fraction in its simpliest form is

(1)/(40)

Answer

0.025=(1)/(40)
