Probability is expressed as

number of favorable outcomes/number of total outcomes

The favorable outcome in this case is the event of selecting a black socks. Since there are 4 black socks,

number of favorable outcomes = 4

number of total outcomes = total number of socks = 26

Thus, the probability of selecting a black sock is

4/26 = 0.15
