In any right triangle whose sides are a, b, c and c is the opposite side to the right angle, then

c^2=a^2+b^2

In the given figure, let

a = 7, b = 9

We need to find c

By using the rule above

\begin{gathered} c^2=(7)^2+(9)^2 \\ c^2=49+81 \\ c^2=130 \end{gathered}

Take a square root for both sides

c=\sqrt[]{130}

The answer is C
