Given the surface area of the cylinder

Diameter = 2 x radius

\begin{gathered} D=\text{ 2r} \\ r\text{ = }(D)/(2)\text{ = }(24yd)/(2) \\ r\text{ = 12yd} \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} S\mathrm{}A\text{ = 2}\pi rh\text{ + 2}\pi r^2 \\ S\mathrm{}A\text{ = 2}\pi(12)\text{ x 9 + 2}\pi(9)^2 \\ S\mathrm{}A\text{ = 216}\pi\text{ + 162}\pi \\ S\mathrm{}A\text{ = 378}\pi yd^2 \end{gathered}

Hence the surface area of the cylinder = 378π yd²
