From the problem, we have :

2x+4=9x+7

Isolate the terms with variables from the terms without variables.

Terms with variables will be on the left side and the remaining terms will be on the right side.

Subtract 9x to both sides of the equation :

\begin{gathered} 2x+4-9x=\cancel{9x}+7-\cancel{9x} \\ -7x+4=7 \end{gathered}

Subtract 4 to both sides of the equation :

\begin{gathered} -7x+\cancel{4}-\cancel{4}=7-4 \\ -7x=3 \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by -7 :

\begin{gathered} \frac{\cancel{-7}x}{\cancel{-7}}=(3)/(7) \\ x=-(3)/(7) \end{gathered}

ANSWER :

x = -3/7
