Our system is

\begin{cases}3x+y=23 \\ 3x-2y=8\end{cases}

The usual way to solve it is by getting rid of one variable, obtain one equation with only one variable, solve it, and then replace the just obtained value in one equation of the system. This sounds complex, but in practice is easy. Let's do this for our system.

How to get rid of one variable? As you said in the question tab, we are going to subtract both. This gives us

(3x+y)-(3x-2y)=23-8
undefined
