The stopping distance of car is proportional to the square of its velocity. So relation between stopping distance and velocity is,


\begin{gathered} d\propto V^2 \\ d=kV^2 \\ d=0.05V^2 \end{gathered}

Determine the velocity of the car for stopping distance of 245 feet.


\begin{gathered} 245=0.05V^2 \\ V^2=(245)/(0.05) \\ V=\sqrt[]{4900} \\ =70 \end{gathered}

The velocity of car is 70 mph, which is less than reckless speed considered by insurance company. So, insurance company provide full replacement of car.
