To solve the exercise we are going to add the time that Logan spent studying vocabulary and the time that he spent studying spelling:

\begin{gathered} (5)/(6)\text{ hour }\Rightarrow\text{ time studying vocabulary} \\ (1)/(6)\text{ hour }\Rightarrow\text{ time studying spelling} \\ (5)/(6)+(1)/(6)\Rightarrow\text{ total time} \end{gathered}

Since these fractions have the same denominator, so to add them, leave the same denominator and add the numerators:

\begin{gathered} (5)/(6)+(1)/(6)=(6)/(6) \\ \text{ Simplifying} \\ (6)/(6)=1 \end{gathered}

Therefore, Logan spent 1 hour studying in total.
