Given data:

Base of the sale = 12 feet

Height = 16 feet

Finfing the value of x,

The triangle is a right angle triangle , so by using the Pythagorean Theorem

\text{Hypotenues}^2=Perepndicular^2+Base^2

Here, Hypotenues = x

Perpendicular = 16

Base = 12

\begin{gathered} x^2=16^2+12^2 \\ x^2=256+144 \\ x^2=400 \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} x=\sqrt[]{400} \\ x=20 \end{gathered}

Thus, the value of x is 20
