Given the equation

f(x)=(1)/(4)x^2+bx+10

For x=6 you have to determine the value of b

To do so, equal the function to zero and replace the variable x with the given number:

\begin{gathered} (1)/(4)(6)^2+6b+10=0 \\ 9+6b+10=0 \\ 6b+19=0 \\ 6b=-19 \\ (6b)/(6)=-(19)/(6) \\ b=-(19)/(6) \end{gathered}
