To multiply two polynomials, we use the distributive law, the exponents laws and then we combine like terms

\begin{gathered} (x-6)(x^2-3x+5)\text{ = (x-6)(x\textasciicircum{}2)+(x-6)(-3x)+(x-6)(5)} \\ =x^3-6x^2-3x^2+18x+5x-30 \\ =x^3+(-6-3)x^2+(18+5)x-30 \\ =x^3-9x^2+23x-30 \end{gathered}
