Triangle ABC with vertices A(-8, 2).B(-2, 6), and C(-2, 2) is reflected acrossthe x-axis and then dilated by a scale factorof about the origin to produce triangleA'B'C'. What is the relationship betweenthe area of triangle ABC and the area oftriangle A'B'C'?

The ratio change is equivalent to that of dilating the shape, and since we know that traiangles dilate, it follows that the shape dilates quadratically as well!

In this case, the answer would be option A

k = scale factor

\begin{gathered} k=(1)/(2) \\ \\ \text{ In area would be } \\ k^2=((1)/(2))^2=(1)/(4)^{} \end{gathered}
