Use the translation (x, y) -> (x+5, y-9) for this question... What is the preimage of C' = (5.-3)?

Step 1

\begin{gathered} x+5=5 \\ y-9=-3 \end{gathered}

solve for x and y

\begin{gathered} x+5=5 \\ x=5-5 \\ x=0 \end{gathered}

Now y

\begin{gathered} y-9=-3 \\ y=-3+9 \\ y=6 \end{gathered}

so, the answer is (0,6)
