Help me explain use place value to explain how you placed the decimal point in 48 ÷ 3

(48)/(3)=16

As you can see, the given divisions result in a whole number, which means the decimal point is after the digit six as in 16.0.

In other words, the place value of 6 are whole units, and the number doesn't have any decimal values, which means the tenths are zero.

Hence, the result of the division using the decimal point is 16.0
