Length= 6 + w/2-----------(1)

where w = width

The perimeter of the garden = 36yards

Perimeter = 2Length + 2 width

36 = 2(6 + w/2) + 2w

36 = 12 + w +2w

36 = 12 + 3w

3w = 36-12

3w=24

3w/3= 24/3

width= 8ft

substituting for w in equation 1 gives

Length = 6 + 8/2= 6+ 4= 10ft
