From the top of a school 60 feet high, the angle of depression to the road in front of the school contains 38°. Find to the nearest tenth of a foot, the distance from the road to the school.

This is a ramp with the form:

So we can use the sin law to find x:


\sin (38)=(60)/(x)

and we solve for x so:


\begin{gathered} x=(60)/(0.62) \\ x=96.77 \end{gathered}
