Assume that, the interest is $49 when the interest rate is 5%.

To find the interest when the rate is 9.9%

So, it can be written as,


\begin{gathered} (0.05)/(49)=(0.099)/(x) \\ 0.05x=0.099*49 \\ x=(0.099*49)/(0.05) \\ =97.02 \end{gathered}

Hence, the interest when rate is 9.9% is $97.02.
